Holidays in China

More than just a country, China is a world within itself which has grown up alone and detached. Until the late 19th century, few foreigners had penetrated beyond the capital cities and, while nations and languages have flowered and withered, China has spent the last two thousand years evolving in isolation.

China is an escape to an altogether different world. Whether it is a drive down to the route of Silk Road, or an adventurous sailing experience down the Yangzi River, or climbing the greatest wonders of the world, the Great Wall of China, or a scenic beauty of desert landscapes of Xinjiang, this country embraces all.
To commence the journey, your first stop must be at the massive historical stone wall, popularly known as the 'Great Wall of China'. It is one of the greatest wonders of the world and the most visited destination of China. The wall was built in order to protect the Chinese Empire from the Mongolians and other intruders.

China also houses several historical monuments that will take you back into the era of ancient times. Mentioning the most popular ones include the Forbidden City. This palace was once a home of 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There is also a museum which exhibits various cultural and historical relics of ancient China.

Another attraction of China is the Silk Road. Holding a history of more than 2000 years, it is an ancient trade route that starts from the old capitals of Luoyang and Xi'an and reaches the Yellow River at Lanzhou. While on this route, you can get an amazing glance of various cultural heritage and historical sites.

Also, don't forget to visit the Potala Palace. It is the world famous palace, situated on "Moburi (Red) Mountain". This palace is worth seeing as it holds a treasure of precious sculptures, murals, scripture, Buddha figures, murals, antiques, and religious jewelry items that bring alive the Tibetan history, religion, culture and arts. Moreover, if you want to have a look at the most holy place of China, make a visit to the Temple of Heaven.

If you want to have a closer look of the nature, enjoy the gigantic Yellow Mountain that is in embrace with the other mountains, including Taishan Mountain, Hushan Mountain, Hengshan Mountain, Lushan Mountain, Yandangshan Mountain and E'mei Mountain. Here, you can witness the beautiful and panoramic view of sunrise and sunset glow. The nature seems to be at its best splendour with fog and pine trees around this area.

Being the largest country in the world, the climate in China varies widely. However, spring and autumn are generally the best months in which to travel, with mild temperatures.
